It is made with a piece of bamboo and played with two smaller bamboo sticks. A strand of bamboo makes up the strap with two rings, one on each side. Two holes are on it to amplify the sound. This sacred drum is used during ceremonies for healing and worship. It is believed to have the power to heal the ill and to awaken the spirit. It is believed to have been given to the people by the gods to awaken the spirit within and to bring happiness and dance. The Atacamé use them for dances, healing, ceremonies, and worship.
